Fruit Value Calculator: Pricing Crops by Weight and Size

Fruits power the economy side of Grow a Garden — sell runs, quest fills, and ingredient trades all depend on knowing what a crop is actually worth. Fruit value is not one number either: it combines the crop's quality tier, its weight in kg, a size score, an optional stack bonus, and any fruit mutations. This guide walks through every factor with the same formula our fruit value calculator uses.

The fruit value formula

Fruit value = base × quality multiplier × mutation × weight (kg) × size multiplier × stack bonus

Each term is independent — miss one and the total drifts. Here is what each represents.

1. Base value and quality tier

Every fruit has a base value and a quality multiplier reflecting how rare the crop is to grow. Starter crops like Carrot sit at the bottom; endgame crops like Grape Moon or Beanstalk sit at the top.

2. Weight scales the total

Like pets, fruit value scales linearly with weight. A 10 kg crop is worth ten times a 1 kg crop of the same type, mutation, and size. Always read the weight from the item itself — rounding can cost you on large stacks.

3. Size score adds up to +50%

Size is a quality signal from 1 to 100. Our calculator maps size to a gentle bonus:

size multiplier = 1 + (size − 1) × 0.005 → size 100 = ×1.50

Perfect-size crops are meaningfully better than average ones — a full 50% premium at the top end — which is why size matters in premium trades even when weight looks similar.

4. Stack bonus

When fruits are stacked or multiplied together (for example via in-game multipliers), a +10% (×1.1) bonus applies in our model. Toggle "Stacked" in the calculator to include it. Keep in mind: if you sell pieces individually, the stack bonus may not carry over the same way.

5. Fruit mutations

Fruit mutations are the dominant term at the high end. Wet (×2) and Frozen (×4) are entry effects; Rainbow (×100), Disco (×175), and Voidtouched (×300) reprice crops entirely. Full list in our mutation multipliers guide.

Worked example

Price a Moon Melon: 6.4 kg, size 92, Pollinated, stacked:

  1. Base 1,800 × quality ×15 = 27,000
  2. × weight 6.4 kg = 172,800
  3. × size: 1 + 91 × 0.005 = 1.455 → 251,424
  4. × Pollinated ×3 = 754,272
  5. × stack ×1.1 = ≈ 829,699

Size and stacking alone added roughly 60% on top of the mutation-and-weight core — easy numbers to forget when pricing by eye.

Quick tips for sellers

  • Price after mutation — plain crops and mutated crops belong in different listings.
  • Quote size when it is high; buyers pay for perfect-size fruit.
  • Batch similar weight/size pieces together to reduce negotiation overhead.
  • Re-check prices after updates; event crops rotate in and out.

Quick tips for buyers

  • Ask for weight and size before agreeing — both swing the number.
  • Watch for stack bonuses that only apply in specific sell paths.
  • Compare the seller's ask against the calculator, then apply the WFL window.

Frequently asked questions

Does fruit age like pets?

No. Fruit value uses weight, size, quality, and mutation — there is no age 1–500 curve for crops.

What is the best fruit to mutate?

Higher base × quality crops gain the most absolute value from the same mutation multiplier.

Can I convert fruit value to kg?

Use the Value ↔ Weight converter for pets; for fruits, divide value by the known per-kg rate from this formula.
