Growth a Garden Mutation Multipliers Explained

Mutations are the single biggest lever on value in Grow a Garden. A plain pet or crop can jump from pocket change to headline-trading asset purely through the mutation it rolls. This guide lists the multipliers our calculator uses, explains how they stack, and shows which tiers actually move the needle when you price a trade.

How mutation multipliers work

Each mutation carries a multiplier applied to the item's value after base stats. A ×20 Golden does not add 20 points — it multiplies the whole value by twenty. That is why mutations, not raw weight, dominate high-end pricing.

Final value = base value × mutation multiplier (× any additional stacked mutations)

Multipliers are community estimates used for planning. Updates may adjust real in-game values — always confirm large trades against current demand.

Fruit mutation multipliers

Fruits use their own set, generally aligned in spirit but tuned for crop economy:

Do mutations stack?

When multiple mutations can apply (for example a base mutation plus an event mutation), they stack multiplicatively, not additively. Stacking Golden (×20) with Rainbow (×100) does not give ×120 — it gives ×2,000.

Stacking example

  1. Base fruit value: 1,000
  2. Golden (×20): 1,000 × 20 = 20,000
  3. Rainbow on top (×100): 20,000 × 100 = 2,000,000

Use the Mutation Stack calculator to combine up to three tiers and see every step of the math.

Which mutations are worth chasing?

  • Liquid mid-tiers (Golden, Diamond): easy to trade, steady demand.
  • Elite markers (Rainbow, Nightmare): strong flex value and recognition.
  • Apex tiers (Voidtouched, Corrupted): huge numbers but thin buyer pools — patience required.

A mid-tier mutation on a heavy, high-age pet can out-earn an apex mutation on a lightweight newborn. Always run the full equation: base × mutation × kg × age.

Common mutation mistakes

  • Adding instead of multiplying: treating ×20 + ×100 as ×120 undervalues badly.
  • Ignoring weight: a ×300 mutation on a 0.5 kg pet can lose to ×20 on a 10 kg pet.
  • Forgetting age: up to ×3 sits inside the age curve — don't leave it out.
  • Outdated lists: event mutations rotate; verify before big trades.

Frequently asked questions

What is the highest mutation multiplier?

In our reference set, Voidtouched at ×300 leads both pet and fruit tables.

Can I calculate stacked mutations?

Yes — the Mutation Stack tab multiplies up to three selections and shows each step.

Do mutations affect weight?

No. Weight stays the same; only value multipliers change.
