How to calculate attendance percentage
Quick answer: attendance percentage = (classes attended ÷ classes held) × 100. Attending 45 of 60 classes gives 45 ÷ 60 × 100 = 75.00%. An attendance percentage is just a ratio: the classes you actually attended divided by the classes that were conducted, scaled to 100. Nothing else counts — a class that was never held cannot lower your figure, and a class you skipped raises the denominator without raising the numerator, which is why one week of backlogs can pull a comfortable 80% down faster than students expect.

How many classes can I bunk and still have 75%?
Classes you can miss = floor(attended × 100 ÷ target − held). From 80 of 100 classes at a 75% target: 80 × 100 ÷ 75 = 106.67, so you can add 6 misses — 80 ÷ 106 = 75.47% — while a seventh drops you to 80 ÷ 107 = 74.77%, below the line. If your current percentage is already under the target, the answer is zero: every absence keeps you further below.
The reverse question — how many classes do I need to attend to reach 75% — uses the matching formula classes needed = ceil((target × held − 100 × attended) ÷ (100 − target)). From 40 of 60 (66.67%): (75 × 60 − 100 × 40) ÷ 25 = 20, and indeed (40 + 20) ÷ (60 + 20) = 75.00% exactly.

How to calculate marks percentage
Quick answer: marks percentage = (marks obtained ÷ total marks) × 100. Scoring 415 of 500 gives 415 ÷ 500 × 100 = 83.00% — grade A on the scale printed next to the results. For a report card, add every subject's obtained marks, add every subject's maximum, then divide once: (85 + 78 + 82) ÷ (100 + 100 + 100) × 100 = 245 ÷ 300 × 100 = 81.67%. Percentage vs grade vs CGPA
Percentage is the raw ratio of marks. A grade is that ratio banded into a letter — the calculator uses A+ ≥ 90, A ≥ 80, B+ ≥ 70, B ≥ 60, C ≥ 50, D ≥ 40, F below 40. A CGPA is the cumulative grade-point average across semesters; the common CBSE rule of thumb converts with CGPA = percentage ÷ 9.5, so 83% ≈ 8.7 CGPA. Boards and universities differ — many Indian boards use A1 for 91–100 and A2 for 81–90 — so treat letter grades as guidance and keep the percentage as the number of record.
